Newcastle United interested in Chelsea's Armando Broja

Newcastle is interested in Chelsea striker Armando Broja this summer, and the two teams have talked about the possibility of Broja coming to Newcastle on loan.

Chelsea

will decide Broja's future after the preseason. After loaning

Romelu Lukaku

to Inter Milan, Chelsea lacks forward options. Broja spent the season on loan at Southampton and West Ham.

Sky Sports News

reported last month that West Ham was contemplating a £30m offer for Broja. The 20-year-old scored nine goals in 38 appearances for Southampton last season. The Newcastle manager describes the club's predicament as an evolution, not a revolution, but he knows which areas to strengthen.

Howe signed

Nick Pope

from

Burnley

for £10m. Newcastle have signed Lille's Sven Botman for £35m despite signing Dan Burn in January and Fabian Schar in May. The club captain's long-term future is uncertain, and he may depart.

Newcastle fans want Brazil midfielder Lucas Paqueta, but the club would have to spend most of its cash on him. Howe may continue with his present midfield. The management wanted to reinforce at left-back and signed Matt Targett for £15m after his successful loan last season.

Hugo Ekitike nearly joined Tyneside on Deadline Day in January but stayed at Reims.

Newcastle United

and other big European clubs remain interested. The 20-year-old would cost around £30m, although he can play on the wing and in the middle. Howe wants young project signers like him. Newcastle spent £95m in January, and adding the four or five categories above may cost equivalent.
