Scotland and Rangers Legendary Goalkeeper Andy Goram Passes Away

The former Rangers and Manchester United goalkeeper has passed away following his battle with stage four oesophageal cancer after a short battle with cancer.

Goram was included in Scotland's squads at the 1986 and 1990 World Cups, UEFA Euro 1992, and UEFA Euro 1996, making 43 international matches for Scotland for his country. However, he is best remembered for playing for Rangers during the 1990s, when he was a five-time league champion, as well as winning three Scottish Cups and two Scottish League Cups. earning the nickname "The Goalie" from Rangers Fans.

Goram revealed earlier in May that he had been given a terminal diagnosis of stage four oesophageal cancer and had less than six months to live.

After the end of his Rangers career in 1998, Goram played for many clubs, most notably at Motherwell and a brief loan spell at

Manchester United

, winning the 2001 Premier League title with the Red Devils. He later went on to become a goalkeeping coach at numerous Scottish clubs.

Goram was also a member of the Scottish Football Hall of Fame as he was the first-choice keeper in the squads for the Mexico 1986 and Italia 1990 World Cups, plus Euro 1992 and Euro 1996. He was also named both the Scottish PFA and Football Writers’ Player of the Year in 1992-93 when Rangers won a historical treble.
