Ukraine

with Andriy Yarmolenko's own goal in the playoff to reach the 2022

World Cup

in Qatar.

This is the first time Wales will play in the World Cup since 1958. This is also the second time that Wales will play in the World Cup.

Wales will play with England USA, and Iran in Group B of the World Cup. The 2022 World Cup starts on November 21 and runs until December 18.

Ukraine was the better team in the first half an hour of the game but it was Wales who took the lead. Gareth Bale's free-kick in the 34th minute was deflected into the visiting goal by Ukraine skipper Andriy Yarmolenko.

Oleksandr Zinchenko scored from a free kick early in the first half but the goal was ruled out because the referee said Zinchenko had taken the kick too quickly.

Ukraine had a good chance in the second half to equalize but Hennessey pulled off a great save to deny Artem Dovbyk.

Ukraine could have a penalty in the 40th minute after Yarmolenko went down but VAR waved away the foul in a controversial decision.
