Mario Gotze close to joining Benfica
PSV Eindhoven star Mario Gotze is close to joining the Portuguese club Benfica this summer.
According to the Fabrizio Romano, talks are ongoing between
Mario Gotzeand Benfica. He claims negotiations between the Portugues club and Gotze’s camp are progressing but there is no full agreement at the moment.
Romano says that
PSV Eindhovenwants to keep Gotze but Roger Schmidt who is leaving PSV Eindhoven for Benfica in the summer is looking to take Gotze with him.
Schmidt played a big role in Gotze joining PSV in 2020. He has a contract with PSV until 2024. His contract includes a release clause for €4 million.
The 30-year-old Gotze in the 2021-22 season scored 12 goals and provided 11 assists in 51 appearances for PSV. Since joining PSV in 2020, he has scored 18 goals in 77 appearances.
Gotze who scored the winning goal for Germany in the 2014 World Cup final in recent days has been linked with the Italian teams like
Milanand Roma.
