Nottingham Forest promoted to Premier League after 23 years

with Levi Colwill's own goal in the 42nd minute to return to the Premier League after 23 years. This was Forest's first English Football League play-off final.

Huddersfield players believed they should have two penalties in the second half but referee Jonathan Moss did not award them a spot-kick. In the first event, Toffolo was booked for diving after he seemed to be clipped by Colback, the second as Lewis O'Brien tangled with Max Lowe in the penalty area.

Forest captain Joe Worrall after the game told Sky Sports:

“I'm just so proud, so, so proud of the players, of the staff, the fans.

“We've been fantastic all season. We were really unlucky, really, really unlucky to not go up automatically, in my opinion.

“I thought we were really good value. We played with honesty, we play football the right way. It's incredible, incredible.”

Forest started the season poorly and was in the relegation zone in mid-September when they fired Chris Hughton. Steve Cooper was appointed as the new manager and since then they have 27 wins from 45 games. They finished the season in Fourth place and eliminated Sheffield United in the

play-off Semi final.
