Bayern rejected Man Utd's insane offer for me - Muller

The German international was close to join Man United but eventually he stayed at Allianz Arena.

Thomas Muller

claimed to have received an insane offer from

Manchester United

, but was turned down by

Bayern Munich

before negotiations could begin.

The German star recently extended his contract with the Bavarians until 2024 and is likely to become a one-club and has won many honors at club and national level. He now confirmed that he had received an exceptional offer from Manchester United and had the opportunity to leave, but Bayern Munich prevented him from leaving for Old Trafford.

Muller said:

"Bayern clearly rejected the whole thing - despite this insane offer from United. [But it was a] huge vote of confidence from Bayern."

Hoffenheim was another destination that Müller was close to joining He added:

"It was relatively close at the time. Luckily, looking back, [Bayern Munich II boss] Hermann Gerland fought back with all his might and prevented the transfer."

Asked about Niko Kovac tenure, the German said:

"Since I didn't get the playing time that I would have liked to have in this phase, I sought a conversation with the club about all the possibilities."
