Barcelona may face a Pjanic backlash in their summer transfer plans

When it comes to Miralem Pjanic, Barcelona may find themselves in a tough situation.

After being booted out by Ronald Koeman, the playmaker has spent the season on loan at Besiktas.

Pjanic was recruited by

Barcelona

as part of an exaggerated exchange deal for Juventus'

Arthur Melo

, and the transfer was nothing more than a ruse.

However, while it may have done Barcelona a favor at the moment, it may come back to harm them in the future.

That's because Pjanic's loan club,

Besiktas

, has already said that none of its loan players, including Pjanic, will be retained beyond this season.

That means Pjanic will return to the

LaLiga

side, and as Marca points out, he no longer qualifies for the club's pay cap.

Pjanic is a high-earning player who brings in roughly €30 million every season, and Barcelona will have to trade him this summer in order to add to their roster.

It's probable that, if they can find a buyer, the Catalans will have to accept a reduced fee for the Bosnian ahead of next season.
