Ex-Norwich coach Farke quits the Russian club due to family pressure

The German just signed a contract with the Russian club in January, however, he called off his move due to the ongoing war in Ukraine.

Daniel Farke

, the former Norwich manager, has resigned from his position as head coach of

Krasnodar

under family pressure to return to Germany.

Farke was named Krasnodar's new manager on January 17, just two months after being fired by Norwich City after their terrible opening to the

Premier League

season in 2021-22.

The 45-year-debut old's game in charge of the Russian club was supposed to be against Lokomotiv Moscow on February 27, but it was postponed due to the country's invasion of Ukraine.

Farke has thereafter seen a request to terminate his contract accepted, with Krasnodar affirming his exit in a statement, which reads:

"On 2 March FC Krasnodar's top management and Daniel Farke reached an agreement on a contract termination by mutual consent of the parties.

"Farke’s assistant coaches, Edmund Riemer, Chris Domogalla, and Christopher John, are leaving the club with the German coach.

"Football Club Krasnodar thank the coaching staff for the work done and wish them luck in their further career."

The German coach, who has now returned to his motherland, added on why he chose to walk away from the undertaking at Krasnodar:

"After nearly two months, unfortunately without playing any league match, we have asked with pain in our hearts to rescind the contracts.

"The recent political developments and the pleas from our kids, wives, families and friends to return home led to this well-thought out decision.

"It was hard for us because we were warmly greeted here. In a short period of time we built a great unity of people of different nationalities with which we wanted to aim for our sporting goals, with joy and fun.

"Unfortunately, the serious matters of life have caught up on us."

Farke's departure from Krasnodar comes after Lokomotiv Moscow manager Markus Gisdol resigned in protest of Russian President Vladimir Putin's actions, which comprised ordering the assault on Ukraine last week.

“I cannot pursue my calling in a country whose leader is responsible for a war of aggression," Gisdol told

BILD

.

Furthermore, after resigning as an assistant coach at Dynamo Moscow, former Ukraine forward

Andriy Voronin

called Putin a "son of a b*tch."

FIFA and UEFA have also responded to the crisis, prohibiting Russia from playing in any age group competition until further notice.
