Foden helps Man City beat Peterborough 2-0 to reach FA Cup last four

Both Manchester City goals were created by Phil Foden in their 2-0 victory over Peterborough United in the second-tier of FA Cup.

Manchester City

beat

Peterborough

United 2-0 to make their way to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup on Tuesday.

When

Riyad Mahrez

scored the opener for City, they were far from clinical, with Mahrez finding a gap between Hayden Coulson’s legs and met the target. Not long after, City doubled their advantage through Jack Grealish.

City had their 12th FA Cup victory in a row against lower-league rivals since 2018 loss at the hands of Wigan Athletic. Pep Guardiola’s men had found the target three times or more in 10 out of 11, with 40 goals across those games; however, the match was not straightforward.

Two goals in the space of seven minutes made the difference since the tie was like the last one when City vanquished Peterborough 1-0 in 1981.

"

Always we talk about the statistics,"

Guardiola said defending Grealish before this match, saying that he didn’t need to be concerned about his underwhelming numbers since joinig City.

Behind Grealish, who created four chances, was Foden, with two of them being the assists for the goals of the game.

The quarter final will take place on Thursday and City can turn their attention to the

Premier League

for a while. Manchester United will face City this weekend at the Etihad Stadium.
