Official: UEFA eliminated Tottenham from Europa Conference League

The absence of the Spurs in the match against Rennes led to the elimination of this team from the European competitions.

UEFA has announced that

Tottenham

's absence from the match against Rennes has eliminated the team from the Europa Conference League.

Tottenham were due to play

Rennes

in the final group stage of the Europa League on December 9.

Antonio Conte's team could have advanced to the next stage if they won the game, but the outbreak of the coronavirus in the Spurs camp and among the players caused them to announce UEFA that they could not be in the game.

Rennes, on the other hand, opposed the cancellation of the match but were eventually forced to accept it, but UEFA failed to set a date for the postponed match and the match was eventually declared 0-3 in favor of the

French club

.

Rennes' 3-0 victory in this match means that Tottenham is in the third place of the group and the team will not advance to the next stage of this competition.

Eight members of Tottenham Hotspur and several members of the technical staff were tested positive for Covid-19, and the club announced 24 hours before the start of the game that they would not be able to play, which angered Rennes.
