Xavi hopeful Elche win ‘will be a turning point’ for Barcelona

Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez believes their 3-2 victory over Elche on Saturday can turn things around for the Catalan giants.

Barcelona

started the match against

Elche

without a win in their last three games in all competitions and with the majority of their attacking force injured.

Barcelona’s young stars helped them secure a narrow

3-2 victory at home over struggling Elche

at the Camp Nou.

Ferran Jutgla

,

Gavi

, and

Nico Gonzalez

were all on target for Barca, to secure just their third win in their last nine La Liga games.

The win moves Barca back up to seventh in the table, three points off a Champions League spot and Xavi wants his squad to push on from this result.

“We have done some things very well. But, with their goal they came back into the game at 2-2”,

as per reports from

Marca

.

“This is three fantastic points and I hope it will be a turning point.

“We have complicated the game ourselves and Elche survived because of our mistakes.”

Barcelona end 2021 with a trip to

Sevilla

next weekend before facing six games in January.

Xavi’s men will face

Linares Deportivo

in Copa del Rey, and

Real Madrid

in the Spanish Supercopa, in addition to league games against

Mallorca

,

Granada

,

Rayo Vallecano

and

Alaves

.
