Valverde will be sidelined for the next few weeks

Valverde’s injury in El Clasico will keep him away from action for a few weeks.

Real Madrid’s

2-1 win against

Barcelona

came with a price as their high-profile midfielder

Federico Valverde

was injured during that match, and he is going to be sidelined for a few weeks with a knee injury.

The Uruguayan midfielder was sent in as a substitute, but he was able to finish the game as he got injured during a clash with Barcelona’s defender Gerard Pique on a day that his teammates managed to defeat their old rivals for the fourth time in a row, leaving Ronald Koeman in a dangerous situation while he was already facing so much criticism from the fans and pundits.

The player himself has talked about the matter on his Twitter account, insisting that he is happy for the victory, although it cost him a knee injury that will probably keep him away from the action for a few weeks.

Valverde posted on Twitter earlier on Monday, revealing:

"Happy for the team that gave it their all and we took the three of us home, but sad for the blow that left me out of the fields for a few days.”
