Barcelona’s spending limit reduced

Barcelona’s salary limit has been reduced because of the club’s financial situation.

Barcelona

now has less available money than several La Liga clubs as they get eight times less than their old rivals

Real Madrid

according to La Liga, and the decision has been made based on the club’s losses and their income, and these limitations are different for each team.

Now, the spending limit for the Catalans is less than a third of what it was last season, which is understandable considering their financial situation in the past seasons.

After losing €481m (£416m/$558m) earlier this year, now the club can spend €98m (£85m/$114m,) which is considerably less than their limit last year, which was €347m (£300m/$403m).

"They acknowledge much higher losses than what they had initially estimated, so the impact is greater on their spending limit,"

La Liga corporate director Jose Guerra said on Wednesday.

"If you take the €97m limit and add the losses, around €480m, we're talking about €570m, which would be more normal. So it's more or less stable."

"I think there were solutions that could have kept Messi at the club, it was the club's management that decided to use their resources differently. I don't think it was just a question of their finances."

The Catalans’ budget is less than Real Madrid, Sevilla, Atletico Madrid, Villarreal, Real Sociedad, and Athletic Bilbao in La Liga, which shows how bad their situation is, so we have to wait and see what happens to the club in the future.
