AFC presents Champions League team of the last 16 round

Jeonbuk’ Gustavo has formed a daunting attacking unit alongside Polish star Jakub Swierczok.

Asian Champions League concluded its round of 16 fixtures last week as eight of the continents’ strongest sides made it to the quarter-finals. The knock-out phase matches of the competition are always decided by individual performances of stars who complete their teams’ group effort. Asian Football Confederation published the Champions League’s selected team of the round of 16 on Tuesday. 

Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors

has three players on the list, thanks to their hard-fought win over Thailand’s Pathum United. Despite their elimination, the Thai side’s goalkeeper Chatchai Bootprom is included in the list for his spectacular performance both during the game and the penalty shoot-outs. Perspolis have two players included: Saeid Aghaei is named alongside his teammate

Mehdi Torabi

, who scored a last-minute winner against Istiklol.

The Asian Champions League quarter-finals will be played on October 16 and 17. From West Asia, Perspolis will face Al-Hilal while Al-Wahda takes on Al-Nassr. Competing for the next two semi-finals spots, Pohang Steelers will battle Nagoyal as Jeonbuk meet Ulsan Hyundai.
