Lens condemned to play two games without fans

Conflicts between Lens and Lille's fans in their crucial match has made the host pay.

Following the recent clash in

Lens

' recent match against Lille, the French league's disciplinary committee condemned them to play two games without spectators.

Between the two halves of the match between Lens and Lille, the fans entered the field and there was a fierce clash with the police. The clash caused the second half of the game to start with a 30-minute delay. Therefore, the Lens Club will play its next two home games behind closed doors, and the disciplinary committee will conduct extensive research in this regard.

The main trouble began when the Lens' ultras entered the field and clashed with Lille fans. Fans began throwing objects at each other, injuring six people during the clashes. The riot police were forced to retaliate, with further injuries.

Lens finally defeated Lille with a single goal by Frankowski to gain the 3 points of the game. Now the disciplinary committee has announced that the final result of the investigation and the  decision over the final punishment will be announced on October 6.

Thus, Lens will be banned from the presence of their spectators in their matches against Strasbourg and Reims.
