Al-Wahda will face compatriot Sharjah FC in the first knockout round of the AFC Champions League.

Brazilian FC

Al-Wahda

striker Pedro Joao has expressed hope that his team can reach new heights in the AFC Champions League.

After three years in the lower leagues of Portugal and Spain, Pedro left for Asia and first joined Al Fateh SC of Saudi Arabia in 2017, and then left for the UAE in 2019 to join Al Dhafra. He scored 12 goals in 19 games for the team in the league, but the league was stopped due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Now that he is playing in Al-Wahda, they have to face Sharjah FC in the knockout stage, and he expressed hope that they can achieve good results in this match.

He said:

“It is a pleasure for me to debut in the best competition of the continent. Hopefully first of many ahead. I’m very happy to be here and promise total dedication and goals to this amazing club.

“We are definitely capable of overcoming Sharjah. It will be a tough match, but we will give our best to go through to the next round. In Ten Cate, we have a very experienced coach who manages to keep everyone focused on the most important thing which is getting the victory.”
