Real Betis sign Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin on loan

Real Betis have confirmed the signing of Arsenal right-back Hector Bellerin on a season-long loan.

The 26-year-old returns to Spain after a decade at

Arsenal

having informed

Mikel Arteta

earlier in the summer that he was keen to leave the club.

The deal has no option or obligation to buy the defender. All documents were signed ahead of the move, with the clubs waiting for La Liga's approval. The deal was completed before the transfer deadline.

Bellerin

has completed his medical in London this afternoon ahead of flying to Spain. The Spaniard’s wages would have made a deal difficult if he had not taken a pay cut.

The loan move offers Bellerin a chance to rediscover some form, and to reassert his value in order to fetch Arsenal more money next season.

Bellerin initially spent a loan spell with

Watford

in the Championship across the 2013-14 season. It helped him gain a regular role, firstly under

Arsene Wenger

and then his successors

Unai Emery

and

Arteta

.

He has scored nine goals and provided 29 assists in 239 games for the Gunners and won the FA Cup three times and Community Shield twice.
