Shomurodov joins Roma to work under Mourinho

Roma finally signs Genoa’s forward Eldor Shomurodov with a loan contract with an obligation to buy.

and has a buying obligation in his contract, says that he is happy with the transfer, insisting that it would be a huge step forward in his career. He will be wearing a number 14 jersey, and his contract runs until 2026.

“Joining Roma represents a huge step forward in my career – I will do everything I can to show I deserve this opportunity and to demonstrate what I can do at one of the biggest clubs in the world,”

Shomurodov told the official club website

“The speed in which this deal was agreed is testament to my desire to be able to join up with the coach and my new teammates and get to work as soon as possible.”

Roma’s general manager has also talked about the Uzbekistan international and the potential that they have seen in him, and they hope that he would become a star under Jose Mourinho.

“Eldor is a forward with great potential to develop even further and he is hungry to prove himself at Roma, in a league he already knows well,”

said Tiago Pinto, the club’s General Manager.

“Along with that desire, his qualities as a player also fit well with the way our coach wants to play – and for that reason we are delighted to be able to welcome him to the club.”

The 26-year-old made 31 appearances for Genoa, scoring eight goals and providing one assist.
