Manchester City keen on acquiring Nuno Mendes

Manchester City are keen on acquiring Nuno Mendes’ services from Sporting Lisbon in the transfer window, as per reports from Fabrizio Romano.

Manchester City

have been trying to get

Nuno Mendes

’ signature as he has established himself as a regular left-back, with Benjamin Mendy dealing with injury setbacks.

City manager,

Pep Guardiola

has filled the position with Oleksandr Zinchenko, but now he is on the lookout for a proper left-back to recruit. The City boss is aiming to ramp up their spending after Euro 2020 with some major players in sight.

The Citizens are keen on dominating the Premier League after grabbing the title last season. For that to happen, they target the likes of Harry Kane and Jack Grealish, but they are also keen on bolstering their backline.

Mendes appears as a great option for that position as he is establishing himself as an impressive talent.

The City and Sporting are negotiating over a contract, but they have yet to reach an agreement. Sporting are asking for a €50 million transfer fee to cash in on the 19-year-old, which is hefty for Guardiola’s side.

Fabrizio Romano, the journalist, said:

“Manchester City are interested in signing Nuno Mendes. He’s considered a top left back for the future - but City board have no intention to pay full €50m price tag to Sporting.

“Sporting are not accepting any proposal around €30m, as of today. Race still open.”
