Coventry City legend George Curtis died at age 82
George Curtis, a former Coventry skipper and FA Cup-winning assistant coach passed away at the age of 82.
From 1956 until 1969, the center-back, nicknamed 'Iron Man,' played a sum of 543 games for the Sky Blues, the second-highest number in the club's history.
Curtis was a crucial player in Coventry's climb from fourth to the first division in the 1960s before joining Aston Villa, where he went on to win the Third Division championship in 1971-72 during a three-year stint.
After hanging up his boots, Curtis was part of the coaching staff that led Coventry to
Premier Leaguesafe zone in 1986 and
FA Cup
triumph against Tottenham in the final at Wembley in 1987.
From 1977 until 1994, he worked at Coventry in various commercial capacities, including as managing director.
A Coventry club statement read:

."
