The future of Insigne is entirely up to him - De Laurentiis

The Italian star will have good offers with his brilliant performances in Euro 2020.

Napoli

boss Aurelio De Laurentiis has stepped up pressure on Lorenzo Insigne, claiming that leaving or staying at Napoli is up to the player.

The Italian star's contract expires in 2022, and he could leave Maradona Stadium as a free agent next summer. Reports from Italy indicate that Napoli has not yet met with his agent to extend his contract, but the main problem is that Insigne wants to increase his salary. Due to the economic crisis that Covid-19 has created for the club, Napoli does not have the necessary financial capacity. Now Di Laurentiis has claimed that the decision in this regard is entirely up to Insigne.

He said:

“Insigne is a product of the academy and future depends on him,” De Laurentiis said.

“If he is tired of Napoli and wants to go around Europe, it’s his choice, not ours.”

However, Insigne is focused on Euro 2020 and is currently not considering the issue of his contract with Napoli. He said:

“I have no regrets, I’ve fulfilled my dreams to play for Napoli and be the captain of the team. I am more than happy. Now I am focused on the Euros and then I’ll talk to the club
