Roma defender Spinazzola out of action for “a few months”

The Italy defender will be out of action “for a few months” after sustaining an injury in his Achilles tendon, according to Roma’s new manager Jose Mourinho.

was one of the impressive performers at Euro 2020 before rupturing his Achilles tendon when

Italy

vanquished Belgium 2-1 in the quarter-final clash.

The 28-year-old was upset when he was being stretchered off the pitch in Italy’s win in Munich.

are going to miss the full-back “for a few months”.

We all feel sorry about the loss of Spinazzola for a few months but that is football and we have to be ready to start next week,"

he said on

Spinazzola had undergone tests at the Sant'Andrea Hospital in Rome after the clash and they revealed that he sustained a "subcutaneous rupture of the left Achilles tendon".

Roberto Mancini

’s side had a major blow by the news as they will miss him in the battle against Spain in the semi-finals on Tuesday.

The former Tottenham manager is observing the squad’s pre-season training from a distance as he is in his quarantine period before starting his role in full on Tuesday.
