Steven Nzonzi: Roma midfielder rejects Benfica move
Roma midfielder Steven Nzonzi has reportedly rejected the move to Benfica.
The 32-year-old midfielder just returned after a loan spell with Ligue 1 side
Rennes, while before that he had been loaned out to
Galatasaray.
The Italian side want to sell him in this summer’s transfer window and a deal had been in place with
Benfica. But the former
Sevillamidfielder will not be a reinforcement for Benfica next season.
According to Gazzetta Dello Sport, the 32-year-old French midfielder has rejected the Portuguese club's three-year contract proposal. However, the agreement has already been concluded between the Lisbon club and AS Roma.
However, negotiations with the player ended up failing. The French world champion thus closes a door of departure while José Mourinho does not count on him for next season.
Nzonzi was signed in 2018 by Roma from Sevilla for a reported fee of €26.6 million.
