Barzagli decides to become a TV pundit instead of Allegri’s assistant

The 40-year-old retired from playing in the summer of 2019 before becoming Mauricio Sarri’s assistant coach at Juventus. Being tipped with a return to his former club as an assistant, the former Italy international has reportedly decided against joining Allegri’s staff.

According to multiple reports in Italy, most notably

 and

Gazzetta Delo Sport

, Andrea Barzagli has decided against returning to his ex-club and is keen to become a TV pundit instead.

Joining Mauricio Sarri’s staff in 2019, Barzagli’s spell as Juve’s assistant coach lasted just a few months as the 2006 Italy World Cup winner did not return to the club when the season was resumed after the COVID pandemic.

According to the reports, the Italian’s decision to become a pundit might be temporary as he began a coaching course in Coverciano to get his UEFA A coaching badges past September.
