Barcelona defender agreed to join Leeds for €15m

The Spanish defender will play in the Premier League next season.

Goal

confirmed that

Leeds

United had reached an agreement with Barcelona to transfer Junior Firpo for 15 million euros.

Several Premier League and Serie A clubs struggling to sign Fairpo, Leeds United appear to be ahead of the competition. Firpo will be the team's first summer signing, and as Barcelona emerge from the financial crisis, they intend to sell him as soon as possible.

Firpo is the third player that Barcelona has tried to sell in recent days. Before him, Jean-Claire Todibo left for Nice, and Matheus Fernandes had been released.

More players are expected to be sold in the coming weeks before the transfer window closes so that Barca can pay off part of its €1 billion debt.

However, Real Betis, the former Firpo club, will receive 15% of the transfer fee, and given La Liga restrictions, Barca can only invest € 3.2 million of the transfer fee.

Milan, Inter, Southampton, and West Ham wanted to sign Firpo, but the presence of Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds had a significant impact on the Spanish defender's transfer.
