Luis Enrique praises his defensive pair Torres and Laporte

Spain manager Luis Enrique hailed Pau Torres and Aymeric Laporte for the defensive pair’s impressive performance in their 0-0 friendly draw against Portugal.

Spain started their Euro 2020 preparations when they drew the battle against Portugal in the friendly as both parties were feeling the influence of a hectic domestic season.

Notwithstanding trying hard to vanquish their visitors, La Roja’s back line maintained a clean sheet.

Enrique could not play Sergio Ramos as the Real Madrid captain was struggling with fitness problems.

Aymeric Laporte

was assigned as his replacement after the 27-year-old announced being called up to be part of the Spain squad last month.

Pau Torres

was having his 8th cap and the Spain boss was impressed.

I have seen the two starting centre-backs as sensational, they were superb”,

he told a post match interview with

Marca

.

“They both played a game bordering on the outstanding.”

The duo were substituted off in the final half hour and Barcelona’s new man Eric Garcia and Leeds United’s Diego Llorente made their appearances.

However, according to Enrique’s comments, Torres and Laporte will be the ones to line up together for Spain’s Euro 2020 opener battle against Sweden on June 14.
