Neymar set to stand trial in Barcelona court

Spain’s Supreme Court has decided to hold the trial for Neymar’s transfer case in Barcelona.

The Brazilian company DIS had previously made an appeal to the court to relocate the trial to Madrid but their request has been dismissed. DIS held Neymar’s rights back in 2013 and its owners believe they have been victims of fraud in Neymar’s move to Barcelona. The company owners claim that Neymar’s father and Sandro Rosell have intentionally hidden the true figures behind the operation to see the company getting paid less than they should have been. According to

Diario Sport

, it has been adjudged that the Provincial Court of Barcelona has the authority to take over the case. The Public Ministry is asking for two years in prison and a €10m fine for Neymar and a five-year sentence for Rosell – who was Barcelona's president at the time.
