Lewandowski became Bundesliga's second best goal scorer

The Polish scoring machine's engine does not turn off.

Robert Lewandowski became the second top scorer in the history of the Bundesliga with a goal in tonight's match.

The Polish striker was able to increase his tally to 32 goals in the 2020-21 season, defeating his side 3-1 to top the Bundesliga table. Now only Gerd Müller, the German legend, is higher than Lewandowski, and from now on he will face a difficult challenge to break the German record.

Lewandowski started the game today, having scored 267 games before, just one goal behind Klaus Fischer. However, he was able to open the scoring after Leon Goretzka and Serge Gnabry, scoring his 268th goal in the 345th game, a much better static than Fischer, who scored that number in 535 games.

He has scored 74 Bundesliga goals for Dortmund and 195 goals for

Bayern

. He set his best record last season with 34 goals in 31 games, this season with 32 goals in 24 games, he is on the verge of setting an exceptional record.

Müller, who earned the nickname of Der Bomber, scored 365 goals in 427 games in the Bundesliga, and now Lewandowski is 97 goals away from reaching the record for the best scorer in the history of the Bundesliga. He will turn 33 in August and will have to make good progress in the next few seasons to reach Müller's record.
