Schalke and Mainz make a late bid on Joao Victor

, as both clubs joined the bid for a six-month loan for the player.

Despite Victor being behind his previous records in Austrian Bundesliga, he did manage to record five goals and six assists in his 41 appearances with Wolfsburg as well as adding one more assist to his tally this season.

Schalke manager, Christian Gross, had previously admitted to doubting whether they were going to have any further additions to their squad or not, but with €6 million laying around, the club may be ready to make a move on a specific player.

In return Mainz sporting director, Martin Schmidt, also expressed their willingness to invest in loan-moves.
