Guardiola says the Citizens should wait for De Bruyne injury update

The Belgian was Jack Grealish’s second victim of the game to be forced off the field. He was substituted in the 59th minute after a tackle from the English playmaker.

Manchester City

could find the net in the 79

th

minute with a strike from

Bernardo Silva

despite the absence of their main playmaker.

Ilkay Gundogan

added to their lead from the penalty spot in the final minutes.

However,

De Bruyne’s

injury will add to the Citizens’ woes as the 29-year-old playmaker was in stellar form providing 15 assists in 22 total appearances in 2020-21.

Speaking to his post-match interview,

Pep Guardiola

was hoping both

De Bruyne

and

Walker

weren't seriously injured but admitted he doesn’t have enough information about their condition.

"First, I didn’t speak to the doctor,"

Guardiola

said

. "Kyle asked to be out because something happened – hopefully it was just a kick. Kevin put his hand on his leg. Maybe it will be something muscular. But what do you expect?"
