Kai Rooney joins Man-Utd

The son of the former Red Devils player sets in the footsteps of his father after signing for the Old Trafford side.

has signed for the Red Devils while making his father,

Wayne Rooney

, proud. Wayne Rooney, who signed for the Reds at the age of 13, remains to be the top-scorer of the team with 253 goals scored.

Kai following in the footsteps of his father was joined by his mother and father for the signing, of which Rooney shared a picture with the caption:

"Proud day. Kai signing for Man Utd. Keep up the hard work son."

The 35-year-old, who currently plays for

Derby County

while also coaching them, hopes to land a permanent position with the club as their manager after Phillip Cocu's sacking.

During an interview about his achievements at Old Trafford, Wayne Rooney refused to praise himself as the club’s top-scorer, saying:

“Ruud van Nistelrooy, if he had more time here, he would have gone on to get the United record. Obviously it is great and I am really proud to have those records, but it is not something I look at.”

"It says ‘Man United’s greatest goalscorer’ but I wouldn’t say I am Man United’s greatest goalscorer.”
