Persepolis face problem caused by COVID-19

Persepolis squad will travel to Doha on Sunday to face the East Zone champions in the 2020 Championship but they have not played an official match for three weeks which is a worrying issue.

Persepolis

played with

Shahre Khodro

on Nov.30 but their match against

Nassaji

were postponed due to coronavirus concerns.

They were supposed to play with

Zob Ahan

on Saturday bat the match was also postponed because seven players of Zob Ahan tested positive for COVID-19.

These delays have caused Persepolis to play their

Champions League

game 19 days away from their last game.

They have reached the final of the Champions League for the second time in three years and fans expected them to end their talisman of not being champion.

Yahya Golmohammadi

’s squad will lock their rivals without a few key players.

Persepolis have already lost their striker because of a “discriminatory gesture”.

Vahid Amiri

and

Ehsan Pahlevan

are not eligible to play while

Shojae Khalilzade

has left the team for Qatari Club

Al Rayyan

.

Playing in the Champions League has only caused financial problems for the team and it makes the $4 million prize more appealing to them.

But their biggest motivation is that if they win, they will become the first Iranian team to win in Asia since Pas Tehran in 1993 to be crowned Asian club champions.
