Drogba pleased with PSG and Basaksehir players fight against racism

After walking away from their UCL clash for the racist comments made by one of the match’s officials, Drogba took the time to show his appreciation to the players of the two teams.

The former

Chelsea

star,

Didier Drogba

, thanked

Paris Saint-Germain

and

Istanbul Basaksehir

players, who walked away from the pitch after hearing racist comments by one official. Sebastian Coltescu, who was one of the officials in the match, was accused of using racist comments against Basaksehir assistant coach Pierre Webo.

Following the accusations

Webo

was sent off the pitch and to show him their support, Basaksehir players also followed their Assistant coach. Later PSG footballers too joined this unity to end the game after 14 minutes only.

Drogba pleased with this act tweeted:

"Thank you Demba Ba and Achille Webo for standing out and to the players for leaving the field."

"You never this say 'this white guy', you say 'this guy', so why when you mention... listen to me... so why when you mention a black guy [do] you have to say 'this black guy?'"

UEFA

later issued an announcement on the postponement of the game which read:

"UEFA has - after discussion with both clubs - decided on an exceptional basis to have the remaining minutes of the match played with a new team of match officials.”

"A thorough investigation on the incident that took place will be opened immediately."
