Monreal thinks Arteta brough fresh air to Arsenal

Unai Emery came to Arsenal to follow the steps of Arsene Wenger but he was eventually replaced by Arteta.

Unai Emery

would probably prefer to forget his time in

Arsenal

as things didn’t go well for him and the

Gunners

after he replaced

Arsene Wenger

. The Spanish manager was replaced by

Mikel Arteta

was once the club’s captain.

Arteta

immediately started to inject his philosophy into the squad and he was successful. The former assistant of

Pep Guardiola

liked his team to play from the back with quick passes. However, he could only finish the league in the 8th position despite winning the FA Cup.

Nacho Monreal

, former

Arsenal

player believes that even though Arteta’s arrival has brought fresh air to the team,

Arsenal

did not give Emery enough time.

the former Gunners defender told The Guardian: “Yes. You could see it. He was a leader, a captain.

“He expressed himself very well, spoke in every meeting, knowledgeably. He communicated well.

“He was doing his badges, telling us his vocation was coaching. He was bright, tactically he understood, he grasped everything. That said, so fast?

“No. I didn’t expect that. But he will have learned with

Guardiola

. He’s brought fresh air and will grow more.”
