Mihajlovic: 'Bologna deserved the victory.'

Sinisa Mihajlovic thinks Bologna had the upper hand in the match against Sampdoria and merited the triumph, yet if Riccardo Orsolini had botched another opportunity, 'he wouldn’t be allowed on the team bus.'

The

Rossoblu

again neglected to not concede a goal with Morten Thorsby's header as the opener of the game, yet figured out their way to come-back with Vasco Regini's own goal and an Orsolini header.

“We have the same number of points as at this stage last season, despite the fact we’ve played tough opponents like Milan, Lazio, Sassuolo and Napoli already, so I think if anything we’re doing better,” Mihajlovic told Sky Sport Italia.

“I told the lads that when we reap, sooner or later we will sow the rewards, and we are doing that now. We conceded on a corner, which was disappointed, but we overall played better than

Sampdoria

and deserved the victory.”

The Croatian manager proceeded with his tender joke of Orsolini, who had prior hit the crossbar of an open goal.

“I told him that if he had messed that one up too, he wouldn’t have been allowed back on the team bus… The goal he got wrong at Napoli was easier than the one he scored today.

“We didn’t allow many shots on goal, yet again didn’t keep a clean sheet. I won’t say it’s irritating, but it does seem as if we concede with every single opportunity we allow. As long as we score more than the opposition, it doesn’t matter.”

It was an enthusiastic re-visitation of

Marassi

stadium for

Mihajlovic

, who was a Sampdoria legend as both player and manager.

“This is my home and it’s a pity there were no fans present, because this is one of the only ‘English-style’ stadiums in Italy, with the crowd right up next to the pitch.

“I did see my friend, President Massimo Ferrero, and many members of staff who have been working here for years. It’s always a pleasure to be here, even more so when I win.”
