AFC agreed on new dates for the upcoming competitions

New dates are acknowledged for the Asian qualifiers of the 2022 World Cup and 2023 Asian Cup 2023 on Wednesday by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Competitions Committee due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

In an online conference chaired by Tran Quoc Tuan, the committee agreed on carrying out the seventh and eighth competition days of the qualifiers in March 2021. Furthermore, the ninth and tenth competition days are going to hold in June 2021.

It agreed that all the second round Asian Qualifiers finish by June 15, 2021.

During the conference, Tran appreciated the Qatar FA , the Qatar Authorities, and the AFC management, for the wonderful performance of the AFC Champions League (West) in September and October and the provisions for the AFC Champions League (East) starting next week.

He said, “We have successfully completed the AFC Champions League in the West and in just a few days, we will kick-off the competition for the East region clubs.  Our sincere thanks go to the Qatar Football Association and the Qatar Government as well as our congratulations to the AFC Administration.”

“They have done an excellent job. I am sure they will build on their expertise to stage an outstanding tournament, including the Final on December 19. At all times the safety and health of all the players, teams and officials have been and remain our priority.”

India are the fourth place in Group E with three points gained from five competition. Qatar are placed top of the table with 13 points as Oman are with 12. 

A third-placed finish of India  will lead them to the third round for the 2023 Asian Cup Qualifiers.
