Ander was dead before the match- Tuchel singles out Herrera for praise

PSG boss has hailed Ander Herrera for his performance against Rennes.

PSG

played their tenth match of the 2020-21 Ligue 1 season against

Rennes

and managed to win the match despite multiple injuries in the squad. Currently

Kylian Mbappe

,

Neymar

and

Marco Verratti

are out due to injury but Tuchel’s team still managed to stay at the top of the table thanks to high- quality performances by the likes of

Ander Herrera

,

Moise Kean

and

Angel Di Maria

. Herrera provided a goal for Di Maria who scored twice for the Parisians. In a post-match interview Thomas Tuchel has praised the former

Man United

midfielder for his efforts in the game.

“Ander was dead before the match,

“He died in the dressing room tonight. What he did was exceptional. The same for Leandro Paredes.

“We took risks. At the start, we hoped he would play an hour but it was necessary for him to play the whole of the match. We played a really good Rennes teams but we showed a good mentality and a collective effort. It was a great win.”

Tuchel also praised Angel Di Maria for bouncing back from missing a crucial penalty in the team’s Champions League match against

RB Leipzig

.

“Angel likes to play a lot to get his rhythm,

“He was suspended for four games and it was very difficult for him – and serious for us.

“After his missed penalty in Leipzig, which was a key moment, he was very sad. Today, he took his responsibilities and gave a good response. That’s sport. There will be difficult and sad moments, but you must get up. He did that and I’m very happy.”
