Trafford: I told everyone this morning I was going to save a penalty"

James Trafford saved a penalty in the last minute of stoppage time.

England became the champion of the UEFA U-21 Championship with a 1-0 victory over Spain.

, the English goalkeeper, was able to save Ruiz's penalty in the 98th minute, securing the championship for England.

He did not concede a single goal throughout the UEFA U-21 Euros. 

Trafford, after the game, spoke to UEFA TV.

“I told everyone this morning I was going to save a pen and, when it was a penalty, I knew I was going to save it, so it was pretty easy, to be honest."

he said.

“I told all my mates back home I was going to save one.”

Trafford, who is a Manchester City player, played on loan for Bolton last season. He's about to sign with Burnley.
