ten Hag furious with United players for not being 'angry' enough in Newcastle loss

Erik ten Hag expressed his displeasure with his Manchester United players for not displaying enough frustration in their loss against Newcastle United on Sunday

Erik ten Hag expressed his dissatisfaction with the lack of intensity and anger shown by his

Manchester United

team during their defeat to Newcastle United on Sunday. Despite dominating possession, United lost 2-0 after second-half goals from Joe Willock and Callum Wilson.

Ten Hag believed that his players' body language was not aggressive enough compared to their opponents, who appeared more determined to secure the win.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5Live, Ten Hag said:

“I said after the game in the dressing room, ‘It can’t be that the opponent is angrier than we are’. The race for the top four is going to be a fight, and you can only win when you match the desire and passion of the opponent. Setbacks always you have to deal with, we have to leave this behind and only take the lessons from the determination, about the passion and desire."

Following their defeat against

Newcastle

, Manchester United have slipped down to the fourth position in the Premier League table with 50 points, the same as Newcastle who are currently in third place. Tottenham is just one point behind the two teams and is still in the running for a top-four finish.

On April 5th, Erik ten Hag's team is scheduled to play a Premier League match against Brentford at their home ground.
