Ancelotti dubs Vinicius 'the best in the world'
Carlo Ancelotti praised Vinicius Junior as "the best in the world" following Real Madrid's victory over Liverpool in the Champions League
Vinicius Junior was praised by
Real Madridmanager Carlo Ancelotti as "the best in the world" after helping his team defeat Liverpool in the Champions League round of 16 tie.
The Brazilian winger played a key role in both legs of the tie, scoring twice in the first leg at Anfield and providing the assist for Karim Benzema's match-winning goal in the second leg. Ancelotti praised Vinicius for his performance in the tie and expressed his belief that the 22-year-old has reached the top level of the game.
"For me, he's the best in the world,"
Ancelotti told reporters.
"Today he didn't score, but he played very well and provided a goal."
The Brazil international has scored 19 goals this season, along with 10 assists.
After missing a La Liga match against Espanyol, Benzema returned to Real Madrid's starting lineup against Liverpool. Alongside
Vinicius, he created problems for Liverpool's defense throughout the match. However, while celebrating his goal, he was seen pulling up after a collision with Virgil van Dijk in the build-up.
Benzema was taken off soon after but Ancelotti is hopeful that it's not a serious knock.
"It's a blow, nothing more. I hope there will be no problems,"
he stated.
