Spalletti thinks Kvaratskhelia is on the path to become a club hero like Maradona
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia helped Napoli to crucial win over Atalanta on the weekend, taking Partenopei one step closer to the scudetto
Napoli coach Luciano Spalletti believes that
Khvicha Kvaratskheliais on track to become a hero at the club, like the legendary Diego Maradona, who is often referred to as the "god of football."
Kvaratskhelia has been a standout player for Napoli this season, helping them to a likely Serie A title win. He scored his 11th league goal in their recent win over Atalanta, showcasing his skill and speed. Spalletti believes that comparisons between Kvaratskhelia and Maradona are justified, as the Georgian continues to impress and make a name for himself at Napoli.
"This victory was the best. Turning the tables in terms of our results with this quality of play was the best,"
Spalletti told Radio Kiss Kiss
Napolion Monday.
"The team played a great game against a very tough opponent like Atalanta. Physically they are the strongest team of all in Serie A, but also in terms of running in open spaces.
"We moved the ball faster, with a few less touches but with quality, in order to be able to hurt them with pace and speed.
"Then there was that stuff that Kvaratskhelia showed us... This time we can say it was a goal like those of Maradona.
"The god of football was the god of football, but Kvara is on the right path. He has a speed of touch, you never know where he can go."
Kvaratskhelia's impressive record of contributing to 20 goals (11 goals and nine assists) this season in Serie A is second only to his teammate Victor Osimhen's 23 goal contributions (19 goals and four assists). Additionally, Kvaratskhelia has created 17 chances from carries and completed 41 dribbles, which is the second-best record behind Rafael Leao's 44.
