Koeman: After what happened with Laporta, I don’t go to Camp Nou

Former Barcelona manager, Ronald Koeman says he can not go to Camp Nou because of Joan Laporta.

The former

Barcelona

defender, Koeman was appointed as his old team's manager in 2020. He won the Copa del Rey in 2021 but was replaced by

Xavi Hernandez

last season.

In an interview with Andy van der Meijde, Koeman claimed that he can not go to Camp Nou these days because his relationship with Barcelona president Joan Laporta is not good following his sacking in November 2021.

He said:

“After what happened with the president, I don’t go to Camp Nou nowadays.”

Koeman who replaced Louis Van Gaal as the Netherlands manager last December, said Barcelona is playing well under Xavi but also highlighted that the club has given him 10 new players.

“Barça are doing great. I watched Barcelona vs Real Madrid, they played amazing football. They were so good. But, yeah, if you get up to 10-12 new players, things get a little easier. It depends on the quality of the squad. During my time that was different,”

he said.

Koeman also said that he is surprised Barcelona let Sergino Dest leave the club on loan, as he is not worse than Sergi Roberto.

“Dest isn’t any worse than Roberto. I didn’t understand him leaving,”

he said.

The Dutchman also said

Frenkie de Jong

is happy with his situation at Barcelona and will stay at the club.

Koeman said:

“Frenkie is great. I think he’ll stay. He’s deservedly playing so much.”
