Philadelphia Union's Curtin opens up about taking USMNT's job
Following Greg Berhalter's contract expiration and sexual allegations, the USA national team is without a coach as the search for a new coach is going on. Jim Curtin, who made Union an MLS powerhouse, opens up about the possibility of taking the job.
Jim Curtin opened up about joining USMNT's staff, even as an assistant, in his interview with
The Crack Podcast. He said:
“Of course I’d love to coach the national team if that’s what you’re asking.
“But I said this before and I mean what I say when I say it, whoever they choose, if they choose Jose Mourinho, if they choose [Carlo] Ancelotti, if they choose Jesse Marsch, I would also be their assistant. That’s how important I think this World Cup is.”
Curtin has taken
Philadelphia Unionto the top of the MLS table with one of the youngest squads in the league. His ability to develop players might come in handy for USMNT. However, the managerial situation won't likely be sorted any time soon as the federation first needs to hire a new sporting director and a new general manager.
