Gary Neville in trouble after liking a tweet defending Mason Greenwood

Garry Neville tries to justify his “clumsy like” of a tweet defending Greenwood

Gary Neville has apparently liked a tweet defending

Manchester United

winger Mason Greenwood, who has been recently cleared of rape and assault charge, and now the former United fullback wishes to explain why he liked the tweet.

Neville liked a tweet from Nazir Afzal, who is a former Chief Crown Prosectutor, which defended Greenwood as “an innocent man” who has been through a “trial by media”.

Explaining his actions, Neville took to Twitter, saying:

"I liked a tweet relating to the Mason Greenwood news this afternoon from Nazir Afzal (the former director of public prosecutions).

"This like is being misinterpreted. It was a clumsy like as I obviously condemn any violence against women."

Since being cleared of all charges, Manchester United has come out and said that they will “

conduct its own process

”. As of now, it is unclear that the 21-year-old will ever play for Manchester United again.
