Manchester City defender Joao Cancelo set to join Bayern Munich on loan

Manchester City defender, Joao Cancelo, is set to join Bayern Munich on a six-month loan deal.

According to the Athletic,

Bayern Munich

is on the verge of signing

Manchester City

defender

Joao Cancelo

on loan. Athletic claims that this deal is likely to include a buy option.

Cancelo has lost his place in City’s starting eleven in the recent weeks, and some reports suggest that Pep Guardiola is not happy with his attitude this season and their relationship has been broken. The 28-year-old defender has been on the bench in the last three games and has just started two times in their last league matches. Guardiola has preferred academy graduate Rico Lewis and Nathan Ake to Cancelo during the recent weeks.

Cancelo joined Manchester City, for a reported fee of €60 million involving a swap deal including Danilo to Juventus. He has since won two Premier League titles and a League Cup. The Portuguese scored 10 goals in 154 matches for City and has been named in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year in each of the last two seasons.

Bayern Munich has problems at the left-back position this season with Benjamin Pavard set to leave in the summer. Mazraoui also has been struggling with injuries and will be out of action for weeks. Bayern Munich has failed to win any of their last three games in the Bundesliga and is just one point clear at the top.
