Juventus owner John Elkann insists club is not for sale

Juventus owner John Elkann insists the Italian club is not up for sale despite their off-pitch issues.

Juventus

has been deducted 15 points following an investigation into their past transfer dealings.

The Italian Football Federation also handed out bans to 11 former and current Juventus executives, preventing them from holding office in Italian football. Juventus has announced they will launch an appeal against this ruling.

Former president Andrea Agnelli was handed a 24-month suspension, while vice president Pavel Nedved received an eight-month ban. Former members of the club’s board of directors resigned in November.

In an interview with the French financial paper Les Echos, John Elkann said Juventus is not up for sale. Juventus has been managed by the Agnelli family for 100 years.

“It’s a strong bond which resisted various crisis during its existence,”

he said.

The chairman of Stellantis and CEO of Exor also said Juventus was “one of the passions of his grandfather.”

“I’ve always admired his courage,” Elkann continued.

“If there is an example he gave me, it is to always take responsibility, also in difficult moments.”

Elkann who is a cousin of Andrea Agnelli also defended the former Juventus president.

“Andrea remains a shareholder in our holding Giovanni Agnelli BV, where he is part of the board,”

said Elkann, as quoted by Calcio&Finanza.

“He made excellent work as a Juventus President for 10 years and decided to step down along with the club’s board to better defend himself from accusations that, as of today, have absolutely not been proven.”
