Lazio 4–0 Milan: Lazio Stuns the Champions
The reigning Serie A champions visited the sixth-placed Lazio in hope of reducing their 12-point gap to the league leaders, Napoli. However, it was Maurizio Sarri's men who stunned the Rossoneri.
Failing to win any of their previous four games,
Milan
was hoping to overcome
Lazio
as Biancocelesti could move within a point of Milan with a win at the Stadio Olimpico.
Sergej Milinkovic-Savic opened up the scoresheet as early as the fourth minute, finishing Zaccagni's cross. Although Milan had the most of the possession, they failed to make any use of it as Mattia Zaccagni doubled Lazio's advantage in the 38th minute after Marusic did a great solo run before putting his teammate in the scoring position. The two sides headed to their dressing rooms at half-time with a 2-0 result for Lazio.
Matters got worse for Milan as Luis Alberto added another goal in the 67th minute from the penalty spot before Felipe Anderson made it 4-0 for the host in the 75th minute. Five games without a victory, Milan stays second in the Serie A table while Lazio creeps into the third position with their Thursday victory.
