Chelsea agree deal to sign Noni Madueke from PSV Eindhoven

Chelsea has agreed a deal with PSV Eindhoven to sign winger Noni Madueke in the January transfer window.

According to the English press,

Chelsea

has reached an agreement with

PSV Eindhoven

over

Noni Madueke

in a deal worth £29m. Reports suggest that the England Under-21 winger is now in London to undergo his medical checks before signing his contract.

Fabrizio Romano claims that Madueke was strongly wanted by the Chelsea board, and he will sign a long-term contract in the next few days. Tottenham, Newcastle, and Leeds were also interested in Madueke. PSV has already sold Cody Gakpo to Liverpool for €40m in this transfer window.

PSV's manager Rudd Van Nistelrooy recently admitted it would be hard to keep Madueke if the right offer came in. He said:

"I know there is interest. But as a coach you would rather keep your best players. Situations can arise where clubs come in with an offer than cannot be stopped."

Madueke was a Crystal Palace’s academy graduate and then joined Tottenham. He left Spurs and joined PSV Eindhoven in 2018. He became a first-team regular in the 2020-21 season and managed to score nine goals in 35 games last season.

Madueke is set to become Chelsea's sixth signing of the January transfer window, following the arrivals of Mykhailo Mudryk, Joao Felix, Benoit Badiashile, David Datro Fofana, and Andrey Santos. Chelsea's spending in this window reaches £190m. The blues also spent £270m in the summer after Todd Boehly took over the club.

Chelsea's next game is against Liverpool in the Premier League on Saturday. They are in tenth place in the table with 28 points after 19 matches.
