Official: Mykhaylo Mudryk joins Chelsea from Shakhtar on an £89m deal

Mudryk has been linked with Arsenal for months and he posted numerous posts on social media teasing a move to Arsenal but Chelsea hijacked Arsenal’s deal with an £89m bid.

was in negotiations with Shakhtar for a few weeks and believed they were on the verge of signing

hijacked the move on Saturday and reached an agreement with Shakhtar Donetsk over a deal worth £89m.

Now, Chelsea officially announces signing the Ukrainian 22-year-old striker on a contract until 2030. Mudryk has told

the Blues' official website

:

"I’m so happy to sign for Chelsea. This is a huge club, in a fantastic league and it is a very attractive project for me at this stage of my career. I’m excited to meet my new teammates and I’m looking forward to working and learning under Graham Potter and his staff."

Mykhaylo Mudryk has scored 3 goals and recorded two assists in this season’s Champions League. Moreover, he is Shakhtar’s top scorer in the domestic league with seven goals and seven assists.
