Cristophe Galtier thanks PSG fans for the warm reception Lionel Messi received in the Angers win

Leo Messi came back with a bang, scoring for PSG in their 2-0 victory over Angers.

PSG boss Cristophe Galtier thanked

PSG

fans for the warm welcome they showed to Lionel Messi on his return despite the Argentine playing a massive part in France’s defeat in the World Cup final.

Messi was given an extended break and came back to PSG training on January 4. Galtier has been slowly reintegrating him back into the PSG fold but PSG wasted no time adjusting as he scored on his return against Angers.

Galtier went on to speak to reporters afterwards, hailing PSG fans by saying:

“Thank you and congratulations to the supporters for welcoming him as he was welcomed. Believe me, it warms his heart.”

He continued by talking about

Lionel Messi

’s conditions after the World Cup:

“Leo had recovered well, he had a lot of sessions with us. He seems calm, light, very fit on a physical level. Obviously, with or without Leo, it gives another option. He seemed fine to me physically. I had spoken with him at half-time and as the match progressed to find out how he felt physically. He felt good. It was important for him to play again quickly and for the team to find Leo in the heart of the game. The fact that he was able to play the whole game is even better.”

With PSG sitting 6 points clear at the top of Ligue 1 and Kylian Mbappe soon coming back from his rest, Galtier’s man gear up to go for the big prizes this season.
